"YO, YOU HEAR BOUT THAT ART SHOW AT THE FRIDGE?"
Thursday, 03 December 2009, 8:00pm - 11:00pm

Scot Lefavor's new body of work—presented in his first solo exhibition in Washington DC: "YO, YOU HEAR BOUT THAT ART SHOW AT THE FRIDGE?"—is in the artist's words "disjointed notes on relationships, a social commentary." Made up of 22 new works of acrylic and enamel on panel, including one large panel created onsite at the gallery.

Many in the DC area began to know and love Scot's work during the major MANIFEST HOPE: DC event in January 2009, in which 6 large pieces greeted the attendees as they entered a cavernous gallery space, alongside work by Shepard Fairey, DECOY and Ron English and many others. "Scot's work is great. It's very Roy Lichtenstein meets Barbara Kruger meets an airline emergency brochure. His use of graphic type and simplified figures gives his paintings a real universal appeal. Having a graphic design background has not only influenced his typography, but also his subject matter. Much of his characters look like they just stepped out of a 1950s advertisement. An appeal that never gets old." Taken from: http://theconstantsearchforinspiration.blogspot.com/2009/11/scot-lefavor.html

Music at opening event provided by El Barbudo.
